About Patricia

Patricia Saphier is a psychotherapist treating adults and children with anxieties, depression, problems in important relationships and issues of major life transitions. She works in depth with individuals who feel blocked in their creative lives, stifled in their ability to approach life's problems more creatively, or muted by an unfulfilled potential.

Her professional training includes two years of psychoanalytic studies at Wright Institute Los Angeles, a psychoanalytic-psychotherapy center and adult community clinic. She completed two years of child/family training at The Help Group where she treated severely emotionally disturbed and autistic children, and a clinical traineeship in art therapy and sandplay techniques. She has further training and broad background experience in dream analysis and mind-body integrative practices. Her treatment approach is modeled on the depth psychological school.

Patricia has over ten years' experience working with women, men and children in clinical practice. She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Ph.D. candidate in Clinical Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute. She holds a Master degree in Counseling Psychology with Emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute, and an undergraduate degree in Social Psychology and English from Tufts University.

She is a professional member of the American Psychological Association, the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, the Los Angeles County Psychological Association, and the Association for Pre- and Peri-natal Psychology and Health; and is a clinical supervisor to interns in training at the Maple Counseling Center.

In addition to general clinical practice, she has particular interest in issues related to women's reproductive life events, including fertility and pregnancy, childbirth trauma, post-partum mood disorders, early infant bonding and separation. A researcher in the emerging field of pre-natal and peri-natal psychology, she is affiliated with the Mind Body Institute's wellness fertility program as a specialist in pregnancy and post-partum care.

She has a private practice in Beverly Hills, with separate spaces for adult and child consultation.
